About Us
A bit of my personal history / how Pro-Pure
started.
Since the late 90’s I have always had a
fascination with alternative treatment
products. I have been fortunate to be
involved with many ultra-high end
properties where lift shafts enter sub-
basement pools and the typical smell
associated with chlorine is not an option
passing throughout their multi-million
pound properties. Some pool halls are
using delicate fixtures and fittings that can
over time tarnish with the presence of
Chlorine fumes whilst Westminster do not
allow chlorinated water to be discharged
into the mains drainage system.
As a result, I have been forced into working
with low chlorine and ‘chlorine free’
systems for very much the majority of my
pool life. These products ranged from salt
water chlorination to low level chlorine with
ozone and UV.
In 2004 we started importing and
distributing a well known South African
system that promised 100% chlorine free
treatment. This system utilised copper
ionisation with the additional benefit of low
power electrolysis to split water into its
basic H2O molecules. This system worked
in part but suffered much the same issues
as traditional hydrogen peroxide dosing
predominantly biofilm build up on walls, in
pits and areas of low flow. In essence it
relied on a massively upgraded turnover
period which in turn meant upgrading
pumps and filters and running systems
24/7 and regular oxi-shock treatments.
To me this seems counter beneficial for an
‘eco’ system so in 2008 I set about reverse
engineering the current available systems
and created the Pure+ which was our very
first model.
We manufactured and exhibited this for
several years at Spatex (our annual
industry trade show) when it was still
situated in Brighton.
During our second exhibition year I was
approached by Christopher Mixon who was
up until last year our sales and technical
representative for S.V. He saw our product
and identified the technology was so
similar to his companies’ and was very
keen to set up a meeting. I took his details
and didn’t really think much more that was
until later that summer.
We had Been particularly busy, maintaining
and building pools, with limited or no time
to manufacture systems in house so we
were in discussion with a contact who had
a manufacturing plant in China. We had
sourced and developed our cells and then
hit a wall in manufacture. The cost was
turning out to be too prohibitive for the
volume we were making. I had to make a
decision to look for an investor to continue
the project or reduces sales to a
manageable amount and carry on as we
were.
At the same time we were working on an
installation right in peak season, I had a
phone call or another bulk order and I was
about to turn it down when I remembered
the discussion with Christopher at S.V.
Within 1 hour of discussing this with my
head engineer I got a call random from
Chris, and the next day I flew straight to
S.V. H.Q. in Barcelona.
Moving onwards at this point we’re still
very much working with copper silver
ionisers and hydrolysis (aqua scenic).
Historically the UK market stays with what
it knows and doesn’t like change, so for
want of ‘flogging a dead horse’ we kept
this system as standard until late 2012
when the EU banned the use of elemental
copper as a biocide under theBiocidal
Products Directive.
So as a precautionary measure we took
the liberty of investing in the UVScenic
importing into the UK as ProSV-UV.
Only Recently due to demand we have
started importing the range that we stock
now; Pro-Sal aka HIDROLIFE - salt
system 3.5gpl salt chlorination. Not really
suitable For the UK market due to
incompatible stainless steel equipment
systems must have titanium heat
exchangers and pumps MUST be salt
safe.
Pro-Oxi aka Oxilife 1.5g/l salt low chlorine
and hydrolysis generation - suitable for
most pool installations
Pro-UV aka UVScenic 1-1.5g/l salt ultra-
low level generation using sodium chlorine
and hydrolysis process along side UV as
a secondary backup Compliant with
requirements.
Pro-STN aka station standard pH and
chlorine control system. Utilising free
chlorine display not redox and the full
control capabilities of the SV range.
